Fresh versus Frozen Eggs in Donor Egg IVF

A 2020 US study examining 36,925 IVF cycles revealed that fresh eggs yield higher success rates compared to frozen ones. However, ICSI can often succeed even with very low sperm counts and subpar motility or morphology, as it entails the direct injection of a single sperm into the egg. Trophectoderm (TE) biopsy is the most common method for preimplantation genetic testing. More TE cells (ranging from five to seven) undergo genetic testing during the blastocyst stage. This technique is less invasive because it involves extracting TE cells without affecting the inner cell mass.
In biology, a blastomere is a cell that forms when the fertilized egg (zygote) divides. These cells play a decisive role in developing the blastula and the blastocyst.
Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) involves performing an embryo biopsy to identify specific chromosomal abnormalities. Each embryo consists of 24 pairs of chromosomes per cell.
During the PGT-A process, embryologists extract either a single cell or several cells from the embryo for analysis. These cells are examined to assess the chromosome count.
Preconception Expanded carrier screening (ECS) for egg donors is a comprehensive genetic examination that assesses hundreds of possible genetic disorders at once, aiming to identify egg donors who possess recessive genes that may be transmitted during pregnancy. This holistic testing method represents a notable advancement compared to conventional family history or ethnicity-based screening, as it is capable of identifying carriers without any known familial background of the condition. By identifying potential risks prior to matching a donor with a recipient, ECS contributes to minimizing the chances of a child inheriting a severe genetic disorder and is progressively becoming a standard component of donor screening in fertility treatments.

Male infertility factors can greatly affect the success rates of fertilizing donor eggs and the development of blastocyst embryos. Issues such as low sperm count, poor motility, abnormal shape, and DNA damage in sperm all lead to reduced sperm quality. To be eligible for our Guaranteed eSET Embryo Plan, the semen sample used for fertilizing the donor eggs must adhere to the following criteria:

The semen must contain more than 5 million total motile sperm and have a morphology rate of 2% or higher. This sperm will be evaluated during the egg warming process to ensure it meets these necessary criteria. A
